Over Two Million Hearts Stolen on Social Media

At 18, I Married a Man I Had Only Met Twice.

Everyone cheered as they watched me cry beneath the chuppah. They thought my tears were tears of joy. They were not. In reality, I was terrified.

Thirteen years, eleven children, and three books later, I am finally revealing what happened next. The fear. The silence. The desire. The rituals. And what really happens behind closed doors.

Two Million Hearts Stolen on Social Media

At 18, I Married a Man I Had Only Met Twice.

Everyone cheered and watched me cry beneath the chuppah. They thought my tears were tears of joy. They were not. In reality, I was terrified.

Thirteen years, eleven children, and three books later, I am finally revealing what happened next. The fear. The silence. The desire. The rituals. And what really happens behind closed doors.

Why I Cannot Show You My Face

I live in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, inside the Satmar Chassidic community... one of the most private and tightly woven religious communities in America.

Here, families, schools, marriages, reputations, and livelihoods are closely connected. Women do not publicly discuss their wedding nights, their marital problems, or the private laws that govern intimacy between husband and wife.

This is why Sarah Mushka is a pen name. And why I hide behind portraits that I made with AI to protect my identity.

If the people around me discovered who was writing these books, the consequences would not end with me. They could reach my husband, my children, my family, and the life we have spent thirteen years building. They would cut us off for good (like turning off a light switch).

I am not hiding because I am ashamed of my story. I am hiding because I still live inside it.

Everything else I tell you is true.

The First Person I Told Said, “Don’t You Dare.”

Women in my world do not speak openly about these things. We protect our privacy. We protect our husbands. We protect the community. And she knew what revealing these secrets could cost me.

But I kept thinking about the eighteen-year-old bride I had once been... and the women who were still being sent into marriage with rules drilled into our heads since childhood and a double portion of fear.

I knew what silence had cost me. I also knew that telling the truth could help someone else avoid those same years of confusion. So I began saying the things I had once desperately needed someone to say to me.

I stayed inside my world. But I refused to stay silent.

Inside my books, I've revealed parts of myself most people hide even from those closest to them. My fear on my wedding night. The silence that followed me into marriage. The traditions I cherish... and the truths that I can no longer keep quiet about.

You may never know what I look like. But by the time you finish my story, you may know me more intimately than people who have seen my face for years.

They Came For The Secrets...

But Found Something Far More Personal

People from all over the world originally came to ask about arranged marriage, covered hair, intimacy, and the private rituals of my community.

But soon, the questions became personal.

Women began writing to me about their husbands. Their loneliness. Their faith. The conversations they had avoided and the parts of themselves they thought they had lost.

Some began thinking differently about their marriages. Some felt drawn back toward Shabbos, the mikveh, and traditions they had left behind. Some told me that, through the story of my life, they had found a connection to their own Jewish soul again.

These women come from different communities and different levels of observance. Many live lives that look nothing like mine.

Yet behind closed doors, we recognize one another.

We are more alike than you imagine.

Perhaps that's why these stories have been seen by more than 2.7 MILLION people.

They are not only revealing my hidden world.

They are helping other women understand their own.

Three Doors I Was Told To Keep Closed

Door #1 will show you my marriage.

Door #2 will show you the world in which I live.

Door #3 will show you the ritual that shapes the desire between my husband and me.

You can open any one of them.

But if you want to understand my complete story... from the terrified bride beneath the chuppah to the woman finally breaking her silence... you must open all three.

Questions You May Be Afraid To Ask

Are these books only for Jewish readers?

No.

My life may look very different from yours, but fear, desire, silence, marriage, and the need to feel understood do not belong to any one faith.

Many readers come because they are curious about my community. They continue reading because they recognize something about their own relationships.

Should I read the books in order?

You can begin with any book, but I recommend reading them in order:

The Secret to Real Intimacy
The Hole in the Sheet
No Sign on the Door

The first introduces you to my marriage. The second reveals the world surrounding it. The third takes you inside the private ritual that shapes it.

Together, they tell the complete story.

Is "Sarah Mushka" your real name?

No. Sarah Mushka is my pen name (and the portraits on this page are made with AI).

My identity must remain hidden because I still live inside the community I write about. The people in these books are not characters to me. They are my husband, my children, my family, and my neighbors. And revealing my identity would destroy the life we share.

Why do you hide your real face?

Because telling the truth should not require exposing my children or destroying the life we share. I cover my face to protect them. Inside my books, however, I hide very little.

How candid are these books?

Very candid.

I write honestly about my wedding night, intimacy, desire, marital frustration, religious rituals, and the private realities of my community.

The books are personal and sometimes uncomfortable, but never vulgar. I want to tell the truth, not cheapen it.

What formats are available?

You can receive the digital editions as downloadable PDFs and begin reading immediately.

Kindle and paperback editions are also available through
Amazon.com

Can I purchase only one book?

Yes. Each book can be purchased individually here.

But if you want to follow the entire journey from the terrified bride beneath the chuppah to the woman writing to you now, you’ll want to get the complete three-book collection.

Perhaps Your Marriage Is Fine

Perhaps you love your husband. Perhaps nothing is terribly wrong... and yet, somewhere behind the routines, responsibilities, and conversations about everyday life, something has quietly disappeared.

The wanting.

The closeness.

The feeling that he still sees you.

I know what it is like to remain silent because you cannot explain what is missing. That is why I wrote these books.

Inside, I will show you the frightened bride I once was... The wife I struggled to become... And the woman who finally found the courage to speak.

My face must remain hidden. My story no longer will.
